3/4 cup water
1 (750 ml) bottle dark rum
16 whole cloves
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until the sugar is dissolved. Add the water and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and let cool. Pour into a large pitcher or punch bowl. Add the rum, cloves, lemon juice, and 1 cup of water. Stir well and serve over ice.
